Will Outpost v2 include a better pop-up and cookies filtering?

  • Hi!

I'm new on these forums, so hello to all.

Well, I'm a Outpost (free version) user for one year now I'm really pleased for this great firewall, in fact, one of the most interesting differences between Outpost and others is its plug-ins. But I think that this could be improved a bit, specially Pop-Up and Cookies filtering ones.

Now, there is a lot of programms for blocking pop-ups with intelligent internals engines that block pop-ups without user action (at least without much action :D). The same thing for managing cookies, currently and Outpost user should do too many steps for block a popup or filter a cookie.

I think that the best example of an excellent pop-up blocker and cookie manager is Pop-Up Stopper Companion from Panicware Software (Pop-up Stopper Companion (http://www.panicware.com/product_companion.html)), they do that thing in a really sweet and intelligent way for the user.

I'm interested in know if future versions of your great firewall will include an enhanced pop-up and cookies filtering.

Thanks, and keep on your great work.

    Bye!

  • I also use the Cookie filter that Opera has. I am using Opera 7 and it has an option to block all unsolicted popups and so far it is working like a charm.

  • DrSiRiUs, what exactly you don't like in current pop-up and cookies filtering?

Does Active Content plug-in work incorrectly for you?

  • Actually, the cookie manager should work with all cookies. I never had any problems with it. I use Operas cookie manager now because it stops cookies from getting to the hard drive.
Outpost allows cookies to be placed, but not read.
As for popups, you need to disable js and vb scripts too. That stops most popups.
I have noticed some new ones coming along now that Outpost doesn't stop, but some can be added to the trash can I think.
What we need is a programmer to work on this problem. The plugins are open architecture, I believe is the term. Agnitum is, of necesssity, working on the firewall and the plug ins will have to wait a bit for Agnitum programmers to have much time to improve them.
